Meet the 'Synthetic Love' advocate married to doll for last 15 years

  • A 'technosexual' man has been living with a synthetic doll wife for the last 15 years, and believes that such a relationship is ideal for those who don't want to deal with "humans' inconsistencies".

Davecat, who considers himself an activist for synthetic love, and the rights of synthetic humans, had spent 6,000 dollars on Sidore Kuroneko, a ' RealDoll' manufactured by Abyss Creations in the shape of a human woman ostensibly made for sex, who he first saw at a goth club in 2000, and saved up for a year and a half to buy her online and make her his wife, The Atlantic reported.

The unusual couple also sports matching wedding bands that say "Synthetik love lasts forever", and the 40-year old ' technosexual' is planning a ceremony for their 15th anniversary.

Davecat, who appeared on TLC's show ' My Strange Addiction', as well as in a BBC documentary called ' Guys and Dolls', also purchased a similar doll in 2012 named Elena Vostrikova, who is his mistress, and the three live together in a one-bedroom apartment in southeastern Michigan.

He confessed that 70% of the reason he bought the dolls, which are covered in artificial skin made of silicone and even have a fake tongue, was sex and 30% companionship.

He said that it felt "perfectly normal" to treat something that resembles an organic woman the same way he would treat an actual organic woman.

Davecat revealed that part of their appeal is that "they don't possess any of the unpleasant qualities that organic, flesh and blood humans have", and admitted that getting romantically involved with an organic woman didn't seem to be worth it.

  • `Deepika was destined to be cast opposite me`

2013 seems to be the year of Ranveer Singh. After gaining praises for Lootera, Bollywood's new hot-bod is all set to play the modern day Romeo in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Goliyon Ki Raas Leela, Ram Leela. Sreya Basu in conversation with the actor in Mumbai

    Are you a director's actor?
Yes. I really do believe is cinema is entirely a director's medium. We are just tools which he uses to create art and the director is the captain of the ship. And after working in Ram Leela, I can say that nobody makes films quite like Mr. Bhansali.

Seems you can’t stop praising Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
It’s a really, really big deal for me that I got to work with Mr. Bhansali at such a nascent stage of my career. He truly is a master director. He creates his own world.

So Ram Leela is an adaptation of Shakespeare's epic love story Romeo and Juliet?
Yes, it is Romeo and Juliet, the classic, quintessential love story "two young lovers, torn by their warring clans. But it's Mr. Bhansali's take with his kind of twists and turns.

Tell us about your character in Ram Leela.
When I was given a narration, my character's entry was described like "And enters Ram raw, rugged, energetic, intense. He is basically a young, strapping lad from Gujarat. It's my take on Romeo.

What do you have to say about the Sanjay Leela Bhansali signature sets?
I have done only a few movies, but none like this one. Everybody working on the film had put in their 110% energies to set up each frame to make them look grand and impactful. The film is operatic, it's larger than life.

Your pairing with Deepika is already being appreciated. Do you think your off-screen chemistry has translated on-screen?
I believe I was destined to be in this film. I believe Deepika was destined to be cast opposite me. And it's Romeo and Juliet, so the chemistry between the leads really lies at the core and it is the essence of the film. So I hope it worked.

Much is being written about your off-scren chemistry with Deepika. Do you think that will help in the promotion of the film?
Not at all. I honestly don't pay any attention or devote any mental space or energy to what is being written in tabloids or whatever. I just wake up in the morning and try and give my best at my workplace. I love what I do and I focus all my energy on that. So I hope the result of that translates into something good for me.

You had to grow a long moustache for the film. Was it difficult to walk around with it all the time?
I had to work a lot on my moustache. Every night I used to put oil on it and spike both ends up. I literally used to beg to it to grow fast.

Lootera has been a smash hit. You must be on Cloud 9 now?
You know, the first time I saw the film, I was very happy the way it turned out. Only our team knows what difficulties we had to overcome during the shooting of Lootera. Now that we are getting the results of our hard work, it's only deserving. I am so happy that people are giving so much love to the film.

  • I do more like survival cooking: Huma Qureshi

Actress Huma Qureshi has a strong hospitality background, but the "Gangs of Wasseypur" star admits that she is no expert when it comes to culinary skills.

The 27-year-old loves to eat and has fondness for cooking, but says her cooking is more for survival.

"I do like to cook, but I do more like survival cooking. Like today, when I visited home my nieces came over and they are about 10, 6 and 4. They wanted to eat something sweet. I told them that I would make them something very exotic.

"I cut pineapple into pieces and dipped them in melted chocolate and Milkmade and they thought I was Masterchef. I am a 'dhoka' cook," Huma told IANS.

Her father Saleem Qureshi owns a chain of restaurants here and her mother is said to be a good cook. She says her family believes in hospitality and they love to feed people and see smile on their face when they eat good food.

"An interesting mix of Mughlai and Kashmiri cuisines is prepared at my home. My dad is in the hospitality industry. My mother is also a fantastic cook. People used to always come to my place to eat Mughlai food," said Huma, who will be seen in "Dedh Ishqiya" in January 2014.

The movie directed by Abhishek Chaubey also stars Madhuri Dixit and Huma calls the "Dhak dhak" girl lovely.

"I am doing a film called 'Dhed Ishqiya'. It is scheduled to release in January... Madhuri is lovely. She is a wonderful co-star. I've always admired her. She is a very graceful woman. Both on and off screen. She is grounded and real and that makes her even more gorgeous," said "Ek Thi Daayan" star.

"If there is one thing I want to learn from her, it will be her dancing... and the way she smiles. If I can ever smile like that, I will be very happy," she added.

All this while Ranbir's parents, Rishi and Neetu are abroad.

RK returned home to Krishna Raj in the evening, only to leave for a promotional event for Besharam along with Abhinav Kashyap. Later at the event, when someone asked him what Katrina had gifted to the birthday boy, RK shot back, `None of your business.`

Post the event, when Ranbir returned home, Katrina was once again waiting for the birthday boy. The couple was also joined by Rohit Dhawan, who dropped by to wish him. An insider says, `The couple stayed the night at Kishna Raj. His parents are not in the country.`
